When this show launched, getting the audience to give them a chance was critical. The audience had been used to getting music during morning drive, and an earlier attempt at personality driven radio hadn’t been received well. On the plus side, these guys knew the market from their previous life at Q101. They already had chemistry and many of the attributes this audience would find appealing.
We focused on the biggest trait Sherman & Tingle shared with the listeners: their love of classic rock. We also added in some very, very unique and fun benchmark appointments to insert ourselves into the routine of P1s.
The listeners embraced Sherman & Tingle and kept coming back for more. In just two years, we moved the show from 13th to 2nd in the demo. And we had a ton of fun doing it.
